Following last year's most enjoyable visit to the Shuttleworth Air Display, we are arranging a visit to the Battle of Britain Air Show at the Imperial War Museum Duxford on Saturday 12 September.
It is a much larger event than Shuttleworth with many other attractions, including static displays, hangars, workshops, flight simulators and pleasure flights.
The event showcases many of the surviving aircraft of World War II and celebrates 90 years since the first flight of the Spitfire. There will be a re-enactment of the controversial Duxford "Big Wing" of Hurricanes and Spitfires championed by Air Vice-Marshall Leigh-Mallory and Squadron Leader Bader to create localised air superiority during the battle.
The Red Arrows will also be performing their brilliant display at this event.
There are various catering outlets at Duxford but you may wish to bring a picnic. You can find more information on the website - iwm.org.uk
Coach pick up and return will be from Our Lady's Church. The cost will be £73 per person. Places will be filled on a first come-first served basis.Â
You can contact me on hicks5462@hotmail.com or through the website.
Please reply by Friday 17 July to reserve your place.
