We are delighted to report that we now have wonderful clear sound for our next showing of Breakfast at Tiffany's at 1:30pm, Friday 20 February. We are also trying to link up with the hearing loop, though we may/may not have it ready in time.
We have also moved the showing into the smaller hall as the bigger hall's acoustics are so poor. So, we can accommodate up to 40 people and would be obliged if members can email jean.paddick@gmail.com to let us know you're coming.
Breakfast at Tiffany's opens with one the most iconic scenes of 20th century cinema. Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn), getting out of a yellow taxi at dawn on a deserted Fifth Avenue, NY, looking into the window of the Tiffany & Co. flagship store. Her hair is in a high chignon, carrying an oversized cigarette holder and wearing a black Givenchy dress, perhaps the most famous 'little black dress' (LBD) of all time. And, accompanied by the beautiful music of Henry Mancini's "Moon River".
It was released in 1961, starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, and directed by Blake Edwards. It received critical acclaim for its music and Hepburn's style and performance, being nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Hepburn, and winning two: "Best Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture" and "Best Song", both for Henry Mancini.
Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available afterwards, but PLEASE bring your own mug.
There is a small fee of £2 per person for the hall hire, tea/coffee and towards equipment; feel free to pay with notes, which will save us having too many coins to pay into the bank.
