Helen George presents… Between January 1946 and January 1949 many GI Brides who had married American servicemen were transported across the Atlantic to join their husbands and start afresh in the New World.
Among them were ladies from Watford and Bushey. This presentation aims to tell the story of the "friendly invasion" of members of the US Forces to Watford and Bushey during the Second World War, and also the GI Brides of the two towns. There is a lot more to their stories than just romance and jitterbugging.
Open to all Ricky u3a members. No booking required but there is a small fee of £3 per person towards hall hire and speaker.
